Nicolls & Auctions was founded in 1975 by Bruce Nicolls after Bruce finished his apprenticeship with his uncle Earl Nicolls of Derby Hat Auction Service which was founded by Earl in 1938. Nathan Nicolls began helping his father in the business at the age of 12 and continued to do so throughout his teenage years. Nathan began his apprenticeship with his father after graduating from the Reppert Auction School in Auburn Indiana. Nathan continued working with his father and assumed the reins of Nicolls & Auctions in 2018 when Bruce retired from full-time auctioneering. Bruce still attends and helps at every auction and Nate appreciates his wealth of knowledge.
